SCHAUBLIN 70 Part 2

This Schaublin 70 was bought here in Norway with a revolver and a cut off slide. Now I have found a cross slide in France and a tail stock in Holland. Both in a very nice condition. The tailstock only needs some new paint and the cross slide some finish grinding.

And of course the parts have to be scraped in.

The sweet little Tripan holders where bought in Switzerland.

Al parts for the cross slide is now scraped and the movement is smooth and tight. Geometries within 0.005 – 0.01 mm.

For those of you not so familiar with the size of the Schaublin 70, this is my hand for comparison.

Homemade chuck backplate. F-16 spindle nose with M35x1.5 mm threads.

The spindle nose is turned very carefully so that a spigot, raised in its center, will fit closely into a recess in the back of the chuck.

Pratt Burnerd 80 mm 4-jaw chuck.

Steel clamping ring in place.

And here fitted to the lathe spindle nose. Run out of the back plate is 0.01 mm.

Two new 80 mm chucks. Pratt Burnerd super precision, and a Bison chuck made in 1990 (new old stock) both with same accuracy.
